What is your favorite recorded a cappella track? “Fix Me, Jesus” – Kathleen Battle. This is a solo a cappella. She sings traditional songs like an angel.

What is your favorite Fundamentally Sound memory? Performing the spiritual, “Wayfaring Stranger,” with spoken word by fellow UW student org, First Wave, during our 2008 Spring Show at the WIsconsin Union Theater. Watch the video if you haven’t.

What was your first thought after making the group? “What have I done?!”

Who are your biggest musical influences? My past music teachers have had the most profound effect on my musicality because they have instilled the love of art and music and how the two interact. Also, the collaborative setting of an a cappella group allows for all of us as musicians to inspire and teach (whether intentionally or not) one another which is incredibly rewarding and unique. As far as “pop” music goes: Tom Petty, Bjork, CocoRosie, and Lady Gaga. Classically, currently the comosers who are affecting me the most are Faure, Debussy, and Handel.

Have you ever won the Fundamentally Sound March Madness pool? I don’t participate in such games.

What is your New Year’s Resolution? To work diligently on becoming fluent in French.
