“I am describing myself right now. Now you think I’m special!”
What are your favorite recorded a cappella tracks? “Ask the Lonely” – Dartmouth Aires, “The Crowing” – Off the Beat, “More than Words” – Naturally Seven
What was the first a cappella song you ever heard? The rhythm of my mom’s heart beating when I was in the womb. It was quite inspirational.
What is your favorite FS memory? I was a sophomore and I auditioned for this acappella group called “Fundamentally
Sound.” I didn’t consider myself a singer and when I got a callback I was blown away. I had a blast at callbacks, but I was sure that I didn’t make it in. Later that night they kidnapped me, brought me to a party, and made me a part of the FS family. That night is my favorite memory.
What was the first song you ever performed with Fundamentally Sound? “You’re All I Have” by Snow Patrol. I think I still remember my B1 part…
What previous singing experience do you have? Not much. I’ve never taken voice lessons and I didn’t sing in a choir until the spring of my freshman year at Madison; however, I spent plenty of time in the shower belting along with Jesus Christ Superstar and Dream Theater.
Interesting Fact: I like turtles way more than Patrick.
What is your claim to fame? I challenged the devil to a shred guitar duel, whipped out my Ibanez Axe of 1000 Truths, and vanquished the beast by double picking 16th notes at 200 BPM in 15/16 time.
What do you do before a Fundamentally Sound performance to prepare? I spend quality time with my Neti Pot and brew myself a cup of Organic Throat Coat tea.
Describe an average day in the life of Danny Mulligan: You want to know the truth? You can’t handle the truth!
