To audition, please sign up on the choral board on the first floor of the Humanities building or send an email fsacappella@gmail.com specifying a date and 1-hour range that works for you. You may also just stop by during auditions and we’ll find a time for you to try out.

We will be holding an Information Session on Monday, September 6th, 2010 from 8:00-9:00 in the Humanities Building on the UW Campus.  We will sing a few songs and answer any questions you may have about auditions or our organization in general.  Refreshments will be provided!

We are actively seeking basses and vocal percussionists, but singers of all voice parts are welcome and encouraged to audition.

For your audition, please be prepared to sing a verse and chorus of a song which highlights your voice.

Madison, WI - Fundamentally Sound held its fourth annual Spring Show at the Wisconsin Union Theater last Friday. Thanks to a generous grant from the Associated Students of Madison, the concert was completely free of charge. We performed for the largest crowd ever (estimated to be in excess of 800 people) at an FS semester concert. The show was opened by UW Premiere Dance, who later joined us in performing the song “Good Girls Go Bad” by Cobra Starship. The theme was “FS on Safari.”

FS performs at the Black History Experience

Madison, WI - Fundamentally Sound celebrated Black History Month with a performance at the Play Circle in the Wisconsin Union Theater during an event held by the Wisconsin Black Student Union entitled Black History Experience. Other performers included UW’s hip-hop dance crew Hypnotiq and UW’s Gospel Choir led by FS alums Governor and Deonte Harris.

Waiting in our Dressing Room, ICCA Quarterfinal (02/27/10)

St. Louis, MO – Fundamentally Sound competed at a Midwest Quarterfinal for the Varsity Vocals International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) at Washington University in St. Louis. The Stereotypes (Washington University) and Dicks & Janes (University of Michigan) advanced to the regional semifinals in Ann Arbor. Fundamentally Sound took a close 4th place, finishing just 12 points shy of 3rd place and 22 points shy of 2nd.

To those of you at callbacks who didn’t make, believe me when I say that this was one of the most impressive set of auditionees that the group has ever seen. Please stay involved with music and try out again in the future; our group has a lot of guys who auditioned more than once before making it. Joining one of UW-Madison’s choirs or taking voice lessons independently are both great ways to improve your voice.

Madison, WI – Fundamentally Sound performed alongside fellow Wisconsin A Cappella groups the MadHatters, Tangled up in Blue, and Redefined at a concert benefiting the American Cancer Society through UW-Madison’s Relay for Life event held April 16th at the Shell in Madison. This was the 3rd Annual Wisconsin A Cappella Showcase and was the first to feature a four-group opening piece as well as the usual closing round of “Varsity!”
